Halloween

For those who don't know, Halloween is just an INCREDIBLE time for me. I love doing the costumes and going out. Here are some of my costumes over the years.

2008

A new version of the Christmas tree (version III). 13 feet tall. Made from 27 strings of evergreen garland, 288 ornaments, 13 strings of battery lights (20 per string), 18 pvc pipes, 2 laundry baskets and two rolls of duct tape.

2007

Me as Captain Crunch and my Grandmother as a witch

2006

2006 brings the Travelocity Gnome! The traveling Gnobe got mistaken for Santa Claus a few times but heck, those people were drunk. Anyway, it was a fun costume and got lots of attention. This costume was constructed out of two 27 inch bike tires, 1" foam, lots of fabric and thread.

2005

2005 - I got the tux on EBAY cheap and built the car out of 1x2's, some wooden lazy susans, a trash can turned sideways (front of the car) and the lid to that can turned on end is the trunk. Cover that in cotton batting and grey fabric and you have a car

2004

2004 - Bob as Santa with moving sleigh and 3 lighted reindeer. I was more of a float than a costume. The santa suit is purchased but the sleigh is homemade. The reindeer are from the 80's. I pulled them out of my family's storage unit and lit them with small flashlights embedded in the plastic.

2004 - Bob as Santa. It's amazing what you can do with PVC and duct tape!

2003

Angela Haney as 70's girl, Bob as Kool-Aid! and Andrea as Little Red Riding Hood! 2003
The Kool-Aid pitcher was made of three bicycle tires of various sizes, PVC held together with duct tape, lots of fabric and stitching.

2002

Bob as a Christmas Tree (version II). Andrea as a Snowman. 2002 - The tree is constructed of 6 PVC pipes wrapped with garland, battery lights, and floral wire. The base his held in place by using a bicycle tire and duct tape.

2001

Bob as Lady Liberty - 2001. After 9-11 everyone wanted to cancel Halloween. I stood out on my front yard for 4 hours in this get up and you would be amazed at how many people came out and actually enjoyed the holiday. Parents bring kids by in car loads and they all stopped on our block.

Lady Liberty 2001 - The shoes are actually about 2 feet tall and about 3 feet wide. They're very heavy after about 5 steps. I thought I could actually walk but I was wrong. But when you stand in place it really does look like her base. After the hand injury in 2000, Warren was just sure I would kill myself with either the power tools or by trying to walk in these "shoes"

Again...the whole office was in red, white and blue.

Bob & Andrea both cross-dressing.

2000

2000 - Bob as the Pets.com sock puppet. You'll notice that my right hand is wrapped. While making the head piece for this costume, I was using a pair of scissors to make holes in the plastic and the scissors slipped and I stabbed myself in the palm of my right hand. I had the accident on the 26th of October and surgery was on the 1st of November. I got to wear the costume. The house looked like a crime scene but amazingly not one drop of blood got on the white terrycloth costume. This is the most expensive costume I've made counting surgery, physical therapy, and emotional trama. : )

1999

1999 - Warren didn't want a costume until the absolute last minute so he got this crappy penguin costume I made in 30 mintues. The snowman is supposed to be the Burl Ives snowman, Sam, from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

1998

1998 Katie Aron as Wile E Coyote & Bob as the Alien from Toy Story

1997

Bob as Conjunction Junction, Warren as I'm Just A Bill, and someone we don't know as Mother Theresa

1996

This was my first attempt at a Christmas tree (version 1). I was poor at the time and couldn't put too much into it. I'm pictured here with my friend Katie Aron who went as an ValueJet Flight attendant. My great friend Amy (not pictured) went as the Grinch to the block party with me!

1995

My first year going down to the Halloween party in Oak Lawn. I got a white robe, put some gold glitter paint and fake jewels on it and went as The Pope. If I could have built a Pope-mobile I would have.

1986

1986 - This was the first real costume. I worked at Erol's Video Club in Northern Virginia and we had at dress as something from a movie. Obviously I picked Ghostbusters. My Mother and Grandmother made the ghost and I made the circle. This one won first place.
