Friday night near the mall?
Heard a truck about to leap into and over our red Impreza--
________then the animal, yes, it roared like the sound track
from some 50's sci-fi flick,
the animal, the green monster,
________________landed at our side, the driver saving us
by switching into the service lane.
He shifted the green pickup
________back and forth as if to calm the beast
or get it into gear.
Never made eye contact.
________Never waved A-OK,
Never mouthed sorry.
