Back Porch
by Mike Wiegand

    The back porch light burns
turned on by someone else and yet
    it's almost like you left
    it on, flipping the switch
as you left, like you'll be
    back. Driving by the place
    the light looks the same
the driveway, the back door, the same
steps just barely, dimly lit with warm
dull light-as if you must still be inside.
