window panes break as
chards of glass fall,
shattering silence
in burglar's symphony.
the window slides against crystals
once ice now glass,
scraping
and tearing flesh and tranquility
as an arm penetrates
a once peaceful sanctum,
sanctuary of life,
and corrupts sacred space,
violating man's womb,
robbing innocence.
stealing both peace and possessions,
he rips,
cuts,
and stabs at my psyche,
leaving me afraid,
fragile,
unwhole,
cold,
pervious to elements and suggestion,
and naked in the snow.
