Autumn's Counterpoint
by James Gramann
|
On November's
rose sparrows
perch their melody,
budding feathers
trellised at my
fence.
Somber pools of
nomad birds
muddle at the
feeder, their
continuo of
undulled hunger
harmony to
sparrows'
punctuated
chant--As rich and
soulful as this
counterpoint the
years composing
autumn. Quiet
restlessness and
hunger tinge a
full and flagrant
rose.
