The shadows rise and fall quietly.
Spring trees assign
their soft gray ghosts
to lap at the wood floor
and make small waves that
occasionally rise to
tickle the furniture legs.
These patient forms are
not the least annoyed
at being ignored,
and the curtains stirring,
like your breathing,
were both quite subtle
the afternoon
I watched you sleep.
