The mountain stands high today
_____(ours is not a tall mountain
_____with piercing peaks seeking
_____the highest skies, but)
it sharply rises against
_a painted blue sky
__its long sloping shoulder
__and rounded summit
change suddenly to the blue above
_as if cut by a surgeon,
_every rock, cave, crack and ravine
_perfectly defined by the spring sun.
There is no shade-shifting blur
_of mist to cloud our vision.
The mountain's is a knife-sharp life,
_a razor-blade shift of black and white.
