a moment

give me a french crime
novel from the thirties
but fuck all the twists
and denouement
it’s just me
& the detective
(maybe maigret)
in the café de flore
we are discreetly watching
a suspect in the late afternoon
the detective lights up
his pipe
i order another wine
and just for a moment
forget about death
as the evening crowd arrive
